We’re in the 21st century – the way people did things in the past is not necessarily appropriate for now, so the Arts and Sciences of the East feel alien and inaccessible, which is in part why individuals often shy away from it today. The “modern” aspect of the MZW brand allows people to discover the benefits of the profound, sophisticated, and seemingly mystical practices of the Eastern Arts and Sciences in a way that makes sense and is practical in Modern Western Culture. The MZW method eliminates the need to delve deeply into Eastern culture, attempt to understand or adopt it in order to receive the myriad of gems of this ancient culture.
Many people have different ideas of what “zen” is. Through my personal experiences, I have found that zen is all about self-study, self-examination, and self-observation, and leads to an understanding of your organic nature. As one begins to understand their nature more and more, there’s a windfall of attributes that follow, such as becoming more relaxed and at ease. Physical nature is the consummate representation of what “zen” is because it behaves in a way that is organic to its nature. Nature always looks and feels relaxed, peaceful and free. For example, when the ocean manifests enormous, ominous waves, it embodies relaxed power, command and freedom. It’s calm even though the waves are ferocious because it exists in it’s authentic nature.
Giving yourself time alone is the key to attaining a relaxed life. Why? A practice that involves only you encourages you to look inward. Within this practice, you begin to understand yourself more and more, yielding a life of relaxation, balance, happiness and peacefulness. You do only what appeals to you and your individual nature. You adopt the ability to ebb and flow with ease in relation to everyone and everything that comes your way. Knowing your nature allows you to connect to your intuit, the greatest guide. The practice of Zen teaches us to listen to this intuit: our gut. Our organic natural state is the most beautiful peaceful condition.
Everyone thinks of a warrior as someone who’s a fighter, but really the highest level warrior is someone who lives with peace. They have tremendous power, acute conscientiousness, and intuit, and act responsibly with this inner force. They flow fearlessly in life with compassion, kindness, power and command. A warrior is brave, courageous and follows his or her heart. You must love yourself to be brave, and have the courage to listen to the voice of your heart.
Mother Teresa, for example, was a Modern Zen Warrior, as she understood and lived her nature, so any kind of hardships she faced were not hardships for her. Everything she did was a loving act, done effortlessly. She walked the streets amongst hardened criminals and no one touched her. Following her heart demanded that she be brave. Understanding your nature goes hand in hand with being brave, and being a warrior.
