Strong Body Balanced Mind Fearless Heart
Henry Charap
After 7 years of training, the direction of my life has changed. I’ve not only gotten physically stronger, but also I’m learning to connect to myself, others, and my true nature. I’m understanding what I want in my life, and i’ve cultivated the courage to create it.
As an 11th grader, the school work that consumes my peers for days and nights I complete in an hour. The things that worry others no longer bring me distress; but they ask me how to improve my circumstances. Instead of thinking, “I’ve lost the battle,” and then give up, I remind myself I’ve only lost this one fight, so I learn from it and go on stronger and wiser. My mind is clearer, and no longer clouded from my emotions like when I began my journey.
What has been your Leadership experience?
The Leadership Program has been integral to my cultivations, as it sparked a larger commitment to my growth. When I initially joined, I began by observing the role of a leader and role model. I started to understand how and why each class was designed, with the purpose of offering the greatest service available to students, which was the groundwork in my role as I later became teacher trainer.
Learning to be a leader or role model is a powerful task, where I must always be mindful of how I’m representing myself and my Kung Fu. I understand now how one simple action can affect all student’s engagement.
